Liberty Classics

Liberty Classics was formed in 1991 by industry veteran Jack Stoneman and his son Eric. Jack’s resume includes twenty years with the Ertl Co., from where he moved up to become President of Revell-Monogram. Eric started in the toy business after graduating from college and spent several years “in the trenches” of the diecast business before partnering with his father to start Liberty. Two years after they started the company, they were joined by Paul, son and brother, who left a retail service company he had started after leaving college.

The original mission of the company was to produce diecast for the ad specialty and premium markets, a business that had been dominated by the Ertl Co. for years. One of the goals from the beginning was to produce the highest quality diecast available. Jack and Eric called upon an old friend and business relationship in Hong Kong that had been established almost thirty years earlier. In partnership with their good friend, they established a state of the art factory to produce diecast. Collectively the Liberty team has more than one hundred years of experience and has been producing diecast for thirty years.

The Liberty team has developed and introduced over 85 unique items, most of which had never been tooled in scale diecast before and all of which were distributed by SpecCast. There have been airplanes, tractor-trailers, vintage pickup trucks and vehicles, engines, motorcycles, log splitters, tractors, pedal cars, industrial machines and even a newspaper vending machine. In 1998, Liberty Classics dedicated themselves, their experience and their resources to develop a line for retail…a line specifically for the diecast collector.

The same experience, processes and attention to detail have been brought to bear in developing our retail line. Our first introduction was our line of vintage police vehicles. Monty McCord, the well known police historian, collaborated with us to help insure that our police vehicles were the most authentic available. Our second introduction was our line of hot rods. These weren’t just new paint schemes on old tools. Our hot rods were researched and then tooled from scratch. Our most recent introduction, the Power Plant Series of engines, aptly demonstrates our commitment to scale, authenticity and innovation.

We will carry on our tradition and serve the needs of collectors with a high quality, affordable and unique line of diecast. As long as we’re in business we will work to set standards in our industry. Your thoughts and suggestions will enable us to do this.

We appreciate your consideration and input.
